The Bachelor Episode 7: Belize

Once again the Bachelor goes to a beautiful setting! I think Belize is gorgeous.
"We must walk consciously only part way toward our goal, and then leap in the dark to our success."~ Henry David Thoreau
Lindzi gets the first one-on-one date. I have liked Lindzi from the start and I think she's fantastic. They go out to the middle of the ocean where there is this really deep area called the Blue Hole. The date is that they are going to jump out of the helicopter and into the water. It looked so fun, something I would love to do! But they definitely played up the whole cliched taking a leap of faith, falling in love, and conquering your fears comments a lot. Of course Ben kisses her just before they jump, it's his answer for everything! It really was a beautiful setting.
Back at the house, we see Courtney is still up to all her usual tricks (the red wine is out and so are the faces!). This time is even worse though because Emily gets the next one-on-one date. Courtney proceeds to have a mini-meltdown. Personally I think she is just mad because she hoped Ben would send Emily away two weeks ago.
Back to Lindzi, her and Ben have a lovely dinner by the ocean. She tells him she can't wait for him to meet her family and that she thinks she's falling for him. I think the message in a bottle part of this date was too cute! I think it really allowed them to communicate in a fun way. The "Eternal Promise" sounds promising for Lindzi! She says that "he has reinvigorated her hope in love."

"We are afraid to care too much, for fear that the other person does not care at all."~ Eleanor Roosevelt

It's Emily's date and it looks like they are exploring Belize a little. First they take a bike ride, then they play some basketball and shop. Finally they "spontaneously" come upon a lobster fisherman (?) and Ben "spontaneously" decides that they should go catch some lobster. Emily loves Ben's "spontaneity". Yeah right! Anyone watching that knew it was planned by the Bachelor. Anyway, they hop on the boat and head out to catch some lobster (yum!). I can't say I have ever seen lobsters in the wild, I had no idea they were that fast! It was so cool to watch them zoom around.
Back at the hotel room Courtney is still moping because Emily is on a date with Ben. She is whining about how she isn't sure about Ben. All of the things she is saying only make me more convinced that she is only here to win and not to be with Ben. She says that even if she gets the date card it will be too late, and that she really liked Ben (past tense!). However, the date card comes and it is for her and suddenly "Snap!" she's all excited because he listened to her. Now, I feel the same way as Kacie B. and she is my favorite gal on the show but she should ease up on the curses! Just saying!
Back on the date, Emily and Ben are dancing a little before dinner. Personally I don't think Ben is a great dancer, it's like he's just bopping her around! Then they sit down and talk about family. Here is where I think Emily gets off track. She invites Ben to meet her family but she tells the camera that she is falling for him. I think she should have put herself out there more and told him how she felt.

"She's the kind of girl who climbed the ladder of success wrong by wrong."~ Mae West
I think Courtney gets the coolest date this week unfortunately. I would love to climb those steps and see Belize the way it's ancient people used to. Ben starts the date off by apologizing which I think is telling of their relationship. She definitely holds all the cards and Ben is so grateful that she is! I could go on for hours about Courtney but I will sum up with a couple of key points. One, she says that she thinks the spark has fizzled since Sonoma. How could it have fizzled? You were skinny dipping with the man two weeks ago and dancing around topless in front of him last week! Give me strength! Two, she has Ben wrapped around her little finger. She talks about how she wasn't sure about him or wanting to take him home and he just laps it up! I think Ben views Courtney the way he wants to and doesn't really listen to what she says. Three, she completely lies to Ben about her attempts to get to know the other girls. She hasn't been nice, or really tried at all from what we've seen. We've only see her be conceited, mean and rude. At dinner, as far as I can tell she is the only girl who eventually gets a rose this week but doesn't tell Ben she is falling for him. At this point I was hopeful that Ben would realize how she really is and send her home. Wishful thinking on my part.

"When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive-- to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love." ~Marcus Aurelius
I love that Ben wakes the girls up early! Not only does he get a glimpse of real life, it's refreshing to see how pretty these girls really are. I also thought the bed sleeping arrangements were quite interesting. No wonder Courtney didn't invite him back last night. ;) Honestly, I was disappointed a little in the first part of the group date. I mean shark diving is cool but it felt more like a one-on-one than a group date. I get that Rachel was scared and liked the attention but really it falls on Ben, he
should have made an effort to spend time with everyone.
After shark diving, the group goes back to the resort to sit by the pool and drink pina coladas. I thought that Kacie B. and Nicki really put themselves out there,  talking about their feelings and families. Rachel also talked about her family but she forgot to focus on Ben. I honestly think that he already knew he was sending her home. I was so happy Ben gave the first rose to Kacie B.! It says a lot that she got the first hometown rose. He said it was because she wore her heart on her sleeve, and I really think that is what he was hoping for this week. The girls then decide now is the time to talk to Ben about Courtney. I was nervous because of the reaction he had with Emily for the same thing but I leave the conversation again hopeful that Ben will see the light.

"We may pass violets looking for roses. We may pass contentment looking for victory." ~Bern Williams
The girls are chatting while waiting for Ben to show up. First I would like to say I love Lindzi's dress, so adorable! Courtney is being her fickle self again. She tries to lighten the situation, which doesn't work, and then is talking about how Ben isn't the only guy in the world. I don't know what to make of this, I can't tell whether she is trying to protect herself, let the other girls down easy, or if she really doesn't care. Then Chris turns up and says that there won't be a cocktail party, Ben has made up his mind. However, if Ben had made up his mind why does he then pull Courtney aside? Shouldn't all of the girls been allowed that time? When he does question her, I feel like he is only doing it to make the other girls feel better. His questions are kind of lame if you ask me, sort of a half hearted attempt at making it seem like he is in control. I don't hear anything that she says that is that persuasive but maybe that's editing. In the end, he also gives roses to Nicki, Lindzi, and Courtney. Ben really does like brunettes, doesn't he? Which means Rachel and Emily are leaving, but not before Courtney gives a snide side glance to Emily and her famous parting shot, "See ya wouldn't want to be ya." I liked what Emily said and I think she had as a good of an exit as you can hope for. She is a smart, beautiful girl and I'm sure she'll have no trouble finding a guy. I also can't wait to see what she has to say at the "Women Tell All".
I am excited to see what happens in the hometowns, particularly to see Courtney's family. It makes you wonder what her family must be like when she acts the way she does. Until then!
